Bríd Kennedy is an author and Personal and Business coach with a background in international development and humanitarian work. Her career began as a nurse and midwife, and she later earned an M.Sc. in Community Health from Trinity College, Dublin. She went on to spend 37 years with Concern Worldwide, supporting teams across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Haiti. She worked alongside communities and governments to address extreme poverty and respond to floods, earthquakes, conflicts, and disease outbreaks, such as Ebola and COVID-19. These experiences deepened her understanding of human resilience, compassion, and the profound strength of the human spirit. When she took early retirement in 2023, she embraced a new chapter of growth and reflection, completing an MA in Applied Spirituality and a Diploma in Personal and Business Coaching.
Her book, ‘Spirituality of Flowers: What Flowers Do For Us,’ was launched in 2025 at the National Botanic Gardens in Dublin. Since then, her work has expanded to include speaking engagements and workshops. In June 2025, she was honoured to present on this theme at the International Network for the Study of Spirituality (INSS) Global Conference in Northampton, UK.
Whether through writing, coaching, or public speaking, her purpose remains the same: to help people look within, awaken their inner potential, and live with greater joy, peace, and presence.
In her talk she will give a brief introduction to her own journey with flowers, and she will invite participants to gather in small groups and explore what comes to mind when they think about the wisdom of flowers. She will share short videos and images of selected flowers to
explore and deepen our understanding of the:
- miracle of growth from seeds to bloom, death and rebirth
- joy, love and beauty of flowers
- wisdom of the resilience of flowers
- flowers messages about hope, letting go, and impermanence.
- She will summarise by sharing that awakening to what is happening in nature is, in itself, an act of
- self-care and in caring for ourselves, we are also caring for Mother Earth
