Conor Doyle, historian of the Theatre Royal, is the nephew and godson of the late comedian Jimmy O’Dea and actress and director Ursula Doyle. He inherited his godparents’ theatre memorabilia collection, which is held in the Irish Theatre Archive in Pearse Street library.

He has now collected a large amount of “Royal” stories, programmes, posters, newsreels and memorabilia. He has delivered over sixty Lectures and Talks on this subject include to the Royal Television Society, Trinity College for Friends of Trinity Library and Little Museum of Dublin to names just a few. Television Credits include the RTE News, “On the Shoulders of Giants”, “See you at the Pictures” and the “Today” afternoon programme.

Conor has also taken part in over forty “Sell Out” Concerts in the John Field Room, National Concert Hall, Dublin’s Mansion House, Tivoli Theatre and in various venues as part of “Culture Night” over the last number of years.

He is led the successful Campaign to have the new pedestrian street across the Hawkins House Development to be called “Theatre Royal Way” after the three “Royal” that stood on the same site since 1821.
